Terms of Service

LoreVenture charges a 1% service fee on each executed booking line item (hotel, flights, car rental, tours, transfers, and similar bookable categories). This fee covers booking execution by our operations team and is earned upon execution.

The 1% service fee is retained on cancellations after execution, regardless of whether the vendor issues a refund. If you cancel a booking after LoreVenture has already secured it with the vendor, the service fee remains non-refundable as the work has been performed.

Restaurant reservations are exempt from the booking service fee. No service fee applies to dining reservations.

For pre-execution cancellations (cancelled before our team has secured the booking), the full service fee is refunded along with the booking cost.

A 5% surge buffer fee is collected on your total booking costs at checkout. This buffer exists to cover potential price fluctuations between the time your itinerary is quoted and the time bookings are executed. Travel prices are live and can change — this buffer protects you from unexpected charges in most scenarios.

After all bookings are executed, any unused portion of the surge buffer is automatically refunded to your original payment method. You do not need to request this refund — it is issued automatically once all bookings reach a terminal state (confirmed, cancelled, or refunded).

If a booking exceeds your quote and the overage exceeds the remaining buffer balance, you will be immediately notified and presented with three resolution options. No charges above your buffer will ever occur without your explicit approval.

LoreVenture passes Stripe payment processing fees directly to consumers at cost. LoreVenture does not mark up or profit from processing fees.

• Card payments: 2.9% + $0.30
• ACH bank transfer: 0.8%, capped at $5.00

We strongly recommend paying by ACH bank transfer for all trip bookings. For most trips, ACH saves consumers $90–$100 or more compared to card payments. The processing fee is displayed as a separate line item at checkout and updates dynamically based on your selected payment method.

Travel prices are live and change between quote and execution. LoreVenture will always attempt to execute bookings at or near your quoted price. When prices change:

1. Buffer absorption: LoreVenture first draws from your 5% surge buffer to cover any overage. If the buffer covers the full difference, no action is required from you.
2. Consumer notification: If the overage exceeds your remaining buffer balance, you will be immediately notified by email and dashboard message with a direct link to the resolution screen.
3. Three resolution options: (1) Choose an expert-provided alternative at no extra cost, (2) pay the exact shortfall to keep your original booking, or (3) enter a 24-hour assisted booking window with our operations team.

No booking affected by a price overage will proceed without a consumer-selected resolution. LoreVenture will not automatically charge your payment method for any amount above the collected buffer without explicit approval.

Electing Option C (Work with Operations) opens a 24-hour assisted booking window beginning immediately. Once this window is opened:

• You must respond to LoreVenture operations within 24 hours. A countdown timer is displayed on your dashboard and in your inbox.
• LoreVenture operations will work with you to identify a suitable alternative at or near your original quote.
• Failure to respond within 24 hours constitutes consumer non-response and releases LoreVenture from further service obligation on that line item. LoreVenture reserves the right to proceed with the best available option or issue a partial refund for that line item upon window expiration.
• If no suitable option is found within the window, LoreVenture will issue a refund for that line item at the quoted amount.

Refunds are determined by the status of the booking at the time of cancellation:

Refund timelines: Card payments: 5–10 business days. ACH bank transfer: 1–3 business days. All refunds are returned to your original payment method.

The unused portion of the 5% surge buffer is automatically refunded once all bookings are in a terminal state, regardless of whether individual line items were cancelled or not.

The expert planning fee is the amount you pay your assigned travel expert for creating your custom itinerary. This fee is set by your expert at the time of quoting.

Fee split: LoreVenture retains 20% of the planning fee as a platform fee. Your expert receives 80%, paid via Stripe Connect after confirmed itinerary delivery.

The expert planning fee is non-refundable once the itinerary has been delivered and accepted by you. If an itinerary is never delivered (e.g. expert misses the agreed deadline), you are entitled to a full refund of the planning fee.
